Rick Salay, PhD

Rick Salay is a MITACS post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. In his research he explores innovative ways to support the use of graphical models in software development in order to improve the quality of software. Before his PhD, he had a 15 year career in software product development; the last 5 as chief architect at InSystems Technologies Inc. (now Oracle) during which the company’s annual revenue grew from $4M to $38M with customers in the 50 largest insurance companies in North America. In his off hours he is a keen advocate of green energy technologies, most recently leading a project to install a 25kw solar photovoltaic array on a neighbourhood building.
