Peter Basl, PhD

Peter Basl is a MITACS Elevate Postdoctoral Fellow at McMaster University & acting Engineering Manager for developing Bombardier’s TrackSafe solution. He is leading the McMaster RFID Applications Lab (MRAL) technical team since 2010. Peter is passionate about the development of new products especially in the hi-tech sector. He is particularly interested in RFID technology and its potential use for novel applications. He is a co-inventor of 2 patents for personal safety based on the use of RFID.

Peter holds a PhD degree from McMaster University in the field of computational electromagnetics (2007) and an MSc from University of Waterloo in the field of microwave and RF engineering (2003). He was an NSERC Postdoctoral fellow of the RF MEMS group the University of Waterloo (2008-09). He received a number of national and provincial awards and scholarships throughout his academic years. His research interests include RFID, RF MEMS, numerical modeling and simulation, antenna design, computational electromagnetics and passive RF components.
